Echo International Aid held another pop-up bar on Friday 18 November 2016 at the Brunswick Town Hall. The event raised funds to build an earthquake-proof school for EDUC in Kathmandu, Nepal. The night brought DJs, live music and dancing, together with a pop-up burger bar and bar, all for a great cause!
EDUC provides a free education to underprivileged children from the Basundhara squatters’ area in Kathmandu who would not otherwise go to school. Each day students are given a hot lunch, clean drinking water, uniforms, health checks and school supplies. With around 70 students already enrolled at EDUC, they are in desperate need of new facilities after being hit by last year’s earthquake. For more information on the school building project check out this page.
Echo International Aid’s innovative social enterprise events are typically held in historic Melbourne landmarks and open after dark, where attendees get to party for a cause with 100% of funds raised on the night going towards meaningful international aid projects. The first event of this kind was held in July at the Old Melbourne Goal and was such a success that the small charity has since expanded, taking on new members and projects. Don’t miss your chance to get down while supporting those in need.
